How to shape up for an event in a week according to a celeb trainer

Got an important party/work event/wedding to go to in 7 days? Celeb trainer Greg Joujon Roche will have you looking incredible in just a week

How to shape up for an event in a week according to a celeb trainer

As the man who has trained the likes of P!nk, Gisele Bundchen, Brad Pitt and Gwen Stefani, Greg Joujon Roche knows a thing or two about how to get someone looking red carpet ready in a short amount of time. Follow this plan and you’ll be smoking hot in just a week.

Cut out foods that create inflammation

“You want to get rid of all the inflammation in your system and you do that by avoiding salt, white sugar and unfortunately booze and caffeine,” says Greg.

Why? Sugar spikes your blood sugar in turn causing your body to store fat as opposed to burning it. If you want to drop weight you need to stabilise your blood sugar. And as alcohol contains a lot of sugar it’s best to avoid it too. Salt and caffeine encourage your body to store water weight which is something you want to avoid if you’re trying to look leaner in a week.

Whatever you do - and this is important - do not embark on a crazy no eating diet! According to Greg, “Don’t starve yourself cause you’ll rid yourself of vitality. There’s nothing worse than someone who looks thin but they look like death.”

Drink loads of water

Drink at least 3-4 litres of water throughout the day. “It’s amazing how if you drink a lot of water you can detox yourself of all the toxins in your body” says Greg. And when you only have 7 days you want to make sure you’re only putting good things in your body.

What to eat

Start your day by drinking a glass of water with lemon. For breakfast Greg suggests drinking a meal replacement shake such as Pro Trim Plus and if you’re still hungry have a green juice*. Sip on water till lunch. For lunch have a meal like salmon or tofu with tons of green vegetables (around four times the amount of protein you’re having). For an afternoon snack you can sip on another green juice or have a green apple. For dinner have another shake.

Yes it’s lean but Greg says, “You need to go into a little bit of a caloric deficit if you want to lose weight, just not too much as it slows your metabolism down. Find the sweet spot.”

Also avoid any heavy foods such as red meat because it takes a long time for your body to digest it.

Exercise daily

Greg suggests doing an hour of cardio exercise every day and doing around 20 minutes each of running, cycling and going on the elliptical machine. Also, it may be tempting to exercise like you’ve never exercised before but you should avoid going too hard! “It makes your body not burn fat and it makes your body on guard. You want your body to be comfortable. If you want to lose weight your cardio has to be steady and not too intense.”

For this week, Greg advises to skip resistance training as your body has to repair itself which in turn creates inflammation. “Your body will hold on to calories and your body will hold on to salt because it’s trying to repair itself. You don’t want to do that,” says Greg.
